After a whirlwind of a week last week, I finally gave myself a few days off — and escaped to the Lake District. Oh my… what a dream. The scenery was breathtaking, the air felt lighter, and every corner seemed to hold some little piece of calm I didn’t know I’d been craving.
One of the highlights? Visiting Beatrix Potter’s house. I was totally fascinated by her style and taste — so much charm and character. And that wallpaper? Oh my heart! It felt surprisingly current, like something you’d pin on a modern mood board. Walking through her home made me long for a slower, simpler life: veg patches, embroidery, a good book, and absolutely no phone signal.
Of course, real life waited patiently for me back home — and with it came something exciting (and slightly nerve-wracking): the reels from Arlo landed in my inbox!
Now, let me tell you… it takes some courage to send your face, your voice, your work out into the world. But I pulled up my big girl pants and did it. The result? I’m thrilled with how they’ve turned out — Chloe and Tom just get it. They manage to capture the chaos and creativity of Anne-Marie’s Madhouse with heart and humour, and I’m so proud of what we’ve created.
Also… can we just take a moment for the stripy chest of drawers in one of the films? I’m obsessed. It wasn’t meant to be a keeper, but now I’m looking at it thinking, “Maybe it stays?” (What do you think — should I keep it? Would anyone want more pieces like that on the website?)
As always, thank you for being part of this madhouse with me. The quiet moments in the Lakes reminded me why I love what I do — and sharing it with all of you makes it even more special.
