Hello and welcome to my very first blog post! My name is Anne-Marie, and I run a hand-painted furniture business from my log shed in the heart of Somerset. I’ve never written a blog before, so putting these words out into the world is a little scary—but also incredibly exciting.
You see, painting furniture isn’t just something I do—it’s something I love. In fact, some might say I’m a little obsessed! There’s something magical about transforming a tired, forgotten piece into something full of character and charm. Each brushstroke brings it back to life.
How It All Began
My journey into furniture painting started from a very unexpected place. After a house fire, we lost everything. It was a devastating time, and in trying to rebuild our lives and our home, I knew I didn’t want to fill it with flat-packed items straight out of a box.
I wanted warmth. I wanted pieces with history. I wanted our home to feel cosy, lived-in, and full of stories—not just things.
So I started picking up old furniture and giving it a new lease of life with paint. What began as a way to heal and make our house a home again quickly turned into something more. I discovered I had an eye for it—perhaps no surprise, as interiors have always been a passion of mine.
My Little Shed Studio
Fast forward to today, and what once was a coping mechanism has become a full-time business. From my log shed in Somerset, I now paint and restore beautiful pieces for others to enjoy in their own homes. It’s hands-on, creative, often messy—and I absolutely love it.
Each hand-painted furniture piece I work on is unique. No mass production, no shortcuts—just me, a paintbrush, and the belief that old furniture deserves a second chance. My Gallery shows some of the pieces I’ve worked on over the years.
What You Can Expect from This Blog
Through this blog, I’ll be sharing my journey—the ups, the downs, the transformations, and a peek inside life in my little shed studio. Whether you’re a fellow furniture lover, a DIY enthusiast, or just someone who appreciates a good before-and-after, I hope you’ll enjoy following along.
Thanks for being here—it really does mean the world.
Until next time,
Anne-Marie
